Troubleshooting
"Can't reach the server"
- Ask the host whether the server is still running and, for a laptop tunnel, whether the address changed. A tunnel address is new every run.
- The host can check in a browser: the same address with
https://instead ofwss://answers "running" and shows how many people are connected. Nothing there means the server itself is down, not the extension. - The address should start with
wss://. Aws://address with a local IP only works for people on the host's own network; anyone else needs a server on Render or behind a tunnel. - For a same-network setup, check that the host allowed the server through their firewall and that nobody is on a guest network.
Nobody can hear me
- Open the setup page and check that the microphone shows as allowed. Chrome's own site settings for the extension and the system privacy settings can each block it.
- Use headphones. With speakers, echo cancellation removes your voice along with the show.
One person's voice never connects
Two participants behind very strict NATs may not find a direct path, because the extension does not use a relay server. A VPN or overlay network between the two of them usually fixes it. Everyone else in the room is unaffected.
The room keeps pausing
Someone is buffering. The popup names who. Their connection to the streaming service is the issue, not the room.
Google Drive says "Unable to load video"
You are signed in to several Google accounts and the link opened under the wrong one — a Drive link that carries no account always opens under the first one. Open the file's own URL directly, or switch account on the Drive page. This is also why the popup's Go to episode button can miss on Drive: the account order differs on every computer, so no single link is right for everyone in the room.
If switching account does not help, the file may simply not be shared with you. Ask whoever started the room to share it; View access is enough.
"You can't view or download this file at this time"
That is Google Drive's own limit on how many people may stream one file at once, not the extension and not your connection. It clears on its own. Cameras, voice and the room itself are unaffected — only the video is.
We drift during ads
Expected on ad-supported plans. The room re-converges after the break.
Reporting a bug
Open the setup page, expand Diagnostics, and press Copy diagnostics. Paste that into a bug report. It contains display names and the server host, but no media, nothing from the streaming service, and nothing from your Drive beyond the file identifier already in the page address.
